Grading policy indicating a passing score of 80% for the classroom & 70% for the 8 hours of Behind the Wheel driving instruction must be accomplished before a Driver’s Education Certificate of Completion is issued. In Louisiana, student performance in driving schools is evaluated through a combination of classroom knowledge tests, a behind-the-wheel skills test administered at the end of the course, and potentially a Road Skills Test for obtaining a license.
Classroom Knowledge – Students must pass a knowledge test with at least an 80% score after completing the 30-hour classroom portion of the course.
Skills Test -A BTW and Road Skills test is conducted during the last driving session to determine the student’s ability to safely operate a vehicle. Students need to achieve a minimum score of 70 points or higher to pass and obtain a Louisiana Driver’s License.
Alternative testing to be used for students with hearing, speech or learning impairments include:
- Extended Time
- Preferential Seating
- Frequent Breaks
- Alternative Testing Format
